I especially love "fuzzy" cows. When we were motorcycling in Switzerland in 2003, one of my favorite things to see and hear were the cows, the mooing and the clanging of cow bells as the cows wandered on the mountains. So peaceful and soothing. There were herds of cows conveniently located at most our our mountaintop stops.

OMG - we LOVE Quarkini. Someone told us they are a Fasnacht treat (the season starts Nov. 11, I think), so that's why they are only around in winter.

You found the Dutch pepernoten! They're a real Saint Nicholas (Saint Nicholas Day is celebrated here on the 5th of December) treat. And the chocolate ones as well!

They usually have nothing to do with pepper, although they are about spices and I think the nuts refer more to the shape than what's in them. I can't get enough of those...

Those Quarks remind me of Berliner 'bol' or pfannkuchen in German.

i am happy to go with you to Einsiedeln anytime you like - i love it there and watching the monks chant the salve regina gives me shivers every time i hear it. only, we should go soon as one time i went in december and couldn't feel my toes inside the church...yikes. also I think you would like Solothurn, it was really pretty and had a cool military museum filled with cannons and swords and guns and stuff.
