I sadly forgot to type up any notes for our day in Scarborough, and our return drive to Manchester. There’s lots of notes with the pictures, though, and you can view those here.

Another yummy breakfast and delightful conversation with our hostess (or her twin) and then we packed up and headed out, intending to go to Edinburgh Crystal, having seen a nice brochure in the B&B.
We drove and we drove, and drove through some horrific sheep stench, but no Edinburgh Crystal to be found. Not even a [...]

[NOTE: My journals from our honeymoon from here until the end are a bit lacking because I took notes and then didn’t go back and finish writing them until over a year later.]
When the next day dawned, our clothes were still not dry, and I had to resort to using hair dryer. Do you [...]

We both woke early and got moving pretty quickly. We had a very decent breakfast right at the window of the B&B with a view of the monument. The hostess of B&B is just as chatty as her husband, but very nice as well, and was very helpful in making travel suggestions.
We first went to [...]

We slept in more than we intended to. The shower was quite a challenge to get started (some weird machine to conserve both water and heated water). We almost missed breakfast, and I managed to slide in before they closed, and got them to hold on Heath’s order. The breakfast was terrific. Everything was fresh [...]

Breakfast at The Victorian was predictably bad, including the fact that you had to pay if you wanted coffee or a cappuccino (from a machine, no less). We got out of that nasty hotel as quickly as possible. I can thoroughly recommend that you shouldn’t even consider booking a room there!
We were headed to the [...]

Glendine Country House continued to exceed our expectations with a devine homemade breakfast. Unlike most of the other B&B’s, Glendine had a pretty full menu, which made it hard to decide; I opted for poached eggs on a potato waffle. They also had a sidebar with homemade yogurt, homemade jams, rhubarb compote, scones/biscuits, and homemade [...]

I sleep best when the air in the room is very cold, and I’m buried under the weight of several blankets. Which was what I got to do last night, because we’d accidentally left a window open, and the temperature had dropped significantly.
Like my vacation to Switzerland, the travel gods have seemed to have taken [...]

The day dawned cloudy again, but breakfast was fun and tasty. Without realizing it, we both nibbled on blood sausages, one kind of which I actually enjoyed. There was a nice girl managing the breakfast that we had a long chat with. She was only 24, and originally from Germany. We somehow got on the [...]

Today we headed towards Galway from Dublin, and the real driving adventure began. It actually wasn’t too bad, and the NeverLost navigator mostly stayed on course with us.
Our first stop of the day was at Clonmacnoise, about half-way through Ireland. It isn’t listed in most tourist books, which pleased us, as we’d been purposely avoiding [...]

Wow what a crazy day! I didn’t sleep well due to tummy troubles (I’m hoping its not the Cryptosporidium outbreak). We went downstairs and met three other guests at our B&B: two Americans from Kansas, and a German lady. We had a nice conversation, although one of the Americans started to talk more history about [...]

We meant to get up much earlier in the morning, planning to go back to Platt Fields to see the costume museum and then lunch at the Curry Mile and onward to the Museum of Science and Industry. Unfortunately we stayed up far too late watching TV the night before (still trying to get used [...]

Well, our plans to avoid jet lag failed miserably. We landed safely in Manchester, made it through customs quite quickly, got our luggage, and stepped out of the airport to a beautiful cool cloudless day. We easily got a taxi (and they are the coolest looking cars!) and he took us to our first hotel [...]

There’s an older gentleman about 50 yards from where I’m sitting, and I swear he could be Ronald Regan’s younger twin. Odd. This is the beginning of my travelogue of our honeymoon trip to Ireland, Scotland, and England.
The day is not yet done, but this will probably be my best chance of writing in the [...]
